Moose location question
« on: April 18, 2012, 12:01:49 PM »
My sons have a few points and a better-than-not chance of drawing youth moose this year.  I see in the regs that there are 2 new areas, Moose Area 1 and 2.  I can't find these in the regs.  Are they the same as deer area 1050 and 1060?

It's just what it says there are:  "Mt Spokane South" and "Mt Spokane North."

They just divided the Mt Spokane unit in half.

Don't even worry about it until they draw. Put them in for all three youth hunts.

Planned on it, just wanting to make sure I was looking at the right areas

I hope they draw.   If they draw either, it's all good for moose!

Lots of them in there?  I've never been to those areas.  Only putting in because it's the only youth moose areas.  Planned on buying a Bearpaw map and winging it.

Yes, I'm being "that guy" who puts in for tags without ever scouting the area.  Bite me.   :chuckle:

Oh yeah, lots of moose throughout the mount Spokane unit. Drawing the tag is the hard part, oh and packing out your meat.

Put them in for any moose permit! All of the moose areas hold plenty of animals and filling a tag will not be a problem whatsoever. Plenty of people are willing to help moose hunters! Good luck!

I drew the Mt. Spokane cow moose in 2006.  I'd never been there either.

It was a lot like trying to find mosquitoes in a swamp.

draw and post it here and you'll get more help than you need.

Follow up question.  If I put him in for youth moose and he draws, the youth moose tag is $57.  If I put him in for the "Any moose" tag and he draws, since he's a youth is it still $57 or is it $332?

$322 is still the cheapest moose hunt you'll ever see.......     :chuckle:
