It seems to me everybody wants to base prices of are tags to other states. I dont care what they cost we are getting f'd in this state. What is different then last year what more are they offering. My wages dont go up why should every thing else. Im going to pay a rancher for my meat instead of the government.

Our prices not to bad?  I cant believe what I hear.  Ask yourself why the discover pass was created?  To fund parks etc.  We all know hunting moneys go in states general fund and there is plenty to fund parks.  The bottom line is they will take as much as they can get away with.  We are simply a revenue program to legislators.  Talk to someone who was hunting in the 70s what they paid?  Cost is relative to each person based on their income thus the different opinions.  If moneys collected went to wildlife programs cost would be significantly less.  I dont mean to rant but c'mon just because YOU can afford it doesnt mean others can or that it is fair. "Rich mans sport" We are heading that way.  I have relatives who gave up hunting long time ago because it was too expensive.  Ya they are POOR.

I can't believe it, another thread on this same topic- AGAIN?

I've said it many times, if you think it's too much money, don't hunt! Nobody is forcing you to spend the money.

I think $36 for two people to watch a movie is too expensive, so I don't go to movie theaters. I think $100 for dinner for a family of four is too much, so we don't go to restaurants.

But for about $200 I can hunt deer, elk, bear, cougar, grouse, ducks, geese, pheasant, chukar, coyote, and bobcat for a year, and I think that's worth it, so I spend the money. Like I said, if it's not worth it to you, then simply keep your money and quit hunting.

:yeah: i agree! how many people put in for tags out of state on here? i can barely afford to buy just my license, and i only buy as much as i can afford which is normally less than $100 for special permits....

Everytime this topic comes up i have to say this because SO many people get this mixed up!  :bash:   Many of you get mad at the price, but really its not the price that pisses you off.  Its the lack of VALUE we get from the WDFW that pisses us off.
If the cost and hunting were the same, and we still had lots of bad policies that we couldn't get around, their could still be one thing that could change our attitude.

"Attitude is a reflection of leadership"

We get no meaningful leadership from the WDFW or the commission. IF the WDFW was our most staunch ally, and did things that made sense we would have no room to bitch.   Things they could have done?
1 Not propose some BS regs about night hunting for coyotes
2 Made a statement that hound hunting is a political problem because it PROVIDES SOUND SCIENTICIF management of bears and courgars
3 attempted a plan to delist wolves in the NE  because the USFS would have allowed that IF it were part of the plan.
4 When the issue of separate merganser limits were brought up 7 years ago they could have moved in support of it.
5 They could have made an effort  to support hunting coyotes with dogs instead of taking it away.

WDFW are not our friends! There are many good people that work for them but their LEADERSHIP sucks and many of those "good" people can't/won't do anything to reign in their stupidity!  :bash:

Its not the price, its the  :crap: service and treatment we get from the department for the $.

Dead on correct. WDFW is bestowed with game management using best available science. When I see Defenders of Wildlife and ConNW at the table I do not feel the least bit sorry to be willing to challenge or at least question their policies. If some people call that bitching then great, bitch, bitch, bitch.

Nope.  Its the --- ---- price.  Im tired of funding the states liberal agenda.  Ill support wildlife etc all day.  I already pay taxes for the general fund.  My hunting license/tags are not to be treated as a tax.  At least we have a say in tax increase thanks to Eyman.  Not the case with hunting.  Doesnt money go to same place?

My buddy, who has known Rob McKenna for 20 years told me that if Rob is elected Governor that he plans on taking departments like the WDFW out of the general fund and back to being somewhat self sufficient.  Since the WDFW funds have been thrown into the abyss that is the general fund, it has gone straight down the crapper at a higher rate of speed.  That needs to be turned around!

I can see why we should not be beaching  :dunno: :bash: this our state and it should not be costing us this much money to enjoy it ... Does Idaho residents pay this kinda money or even Montana ...Hell no they do not ... I mean come on .. The moose tag doubled from last year if you get drawn and we have more moose ... This is messed up and if we keep going along with this sheet then we are cutting our own throats ... we are residents of this state and it should be a priveldge for us living here ... a buddy of mine just called me an hour ago and was just going off..I DO NOT BLAME HIM AT ALL ...I have to buy all tags for 3 in this family and I have not made the money I usually make ...it is going to be tough to come up with all this money by the 15th .... maybe I will just say peeees on it  :dunno: :sry:

Idaho
Hunting Licenses               33.50
Bear Tag                            11.50
MT. Lion                             11.50
Deer Tag                            19.75
Elk Tag                               30.75
Permit Applications fees     6.25
Archery Permit                   18.25
Muzzleloader Permit          18.25
You also have to front the entire tag fee plus permit application to apply for any OIL tags.

So if you want to hunt bear, mt. lion, deer, and elk in Idaho its $107.00.  If you want to apply for specail permit for those species add on 6.25 per species.  If you want to hunt archery for deer or elk add on 18.25, or if you want to hunt deer or elk with a muzzleloader add on 18.25.
Not much cheaper is it?
