So the story is short and sweet after hunting behinds gates for 6 days + 3 days of scouting behind gates...We met Shane in Chewelah at 5:45, he and I in Road hunting attire.....running shoes and he had a nice sweatshirt.. :chuckle:...., my dad and friend Rob we're also in the truck. We had some good info from Brian on a place to check out so off we went...we got up to the area at 1st light and instantly saw a small bull, we went maybe 1/2 mile further and stopped to check things out. I could hear a bull grunting in the canyon so Shane and I ran down the road trying to get around to the other side, we got about 1/2 way there and a decent bull sprints across the road, I pull up on him and Shane says, "I dont have the camera on, Im not ready"... :bash:..the bulls gets into the brush and starts grunting and another one starts grunting down in the canyon in the other direction...we mess around for a bit there and all gets quiet. Dad and Rob show up in the truck and we continue down the road...we get maybe 2 miles and I said lets go back up there and look again...we turn around and head back up there, the sun is just cresting and making it very hard to see down in the draw. I see something black flash down below us and I pull over. I open the door and hear a bull grunting, I grab my binos and tell my dad to hand me the rifle. I throw up my glasses and see him walking through the trees, I tell them all "Im shooting him", and chaotic panic starts with everyone. Im trying to load the gun, Shane's trying to get the camera, and dad and Rob are trying to find the bull. I finally get the gun loaded and kneel down, Shanes saying, "IM NOT READY"..... :chuckle:....no one can see the bull but me. Rob finally walks right behind me and says I see him.....BOOM! he hunches up and takes about 3 steps, I jack another round in, dad's saying, "where is he", Shanes saying, I'm not ready, Robs saying "shoot again"..I level off and BOOM, down goes Frazier! WOO-HOO! He's starts trashing around everyone now can see him and then silence....we all go down there and just stare, what a awesome sight and feeling to take such a great animal with such a wonderful bunch of guys....1st shot hit him through the shoulder, taking out heart & lungs, 2nd shot broke his back and came out through his hind end. He's 44" and has double brows and great paddles, all that I could ask for and I couldnt be happier. This site has been INCREDIBLE for help with this hunt, so many people have stepped up with info, offers to help, maps, GPS info and the list goes on. I'm going to do my best to PM you all who did help in anyway and I hope that I can return the favor someday... Thanks! Sean

Way to go Sean, very nice bull. I have been glued here every day to get your updates. Pretty nice to have a rigger at your side when that big thing went down. Pretty cool Rob and your dad could both be with you on this hunt.

Bulls on Parade......(Rally 'round the family).... Looks like we are harvesting. I got this one on Tues day after opener. He was for sure the big bull on campus there. Two tines broke, a scar on his neck and a bruise on his hind quarter.... He was HOT TO TROT for a cow... Got him on Winchester, near the washout. 225 yard shot with a .308/horanady A-max 168 grain out of a Ruger Gunsite.... Missed the first shot, since I ran like a banshee to get into position and the heart was going a weeeeee bit fast. I settled down for the 2nd shot and punched the lungs. He ran 40 yards across the road, and died 20 yards from the road, in the shade, uphill (easy gutting). We estimated about 1000-1100 on the hoof. Triple brow/double brow, and a whole lot of stinky moose smell :).
Moose make VERY odd sounds.

Elkhound... That was my bull. Looking at it, I was saying geeez, it has broken tines and 2/3 brow pattern just like mine.... and using the same color rope :)..... Were you in that armada of cars with the guys looking to fill a last cow tag?
Moose make VERY odd sounds.
