Reg question
« on: July 23, 2012, 10:31:13 PM »
I went steelhead fishing for my second time ever, and I was told that fishing at night can also be productive, but I am not sure if it was legal in the river I was fishing (not the Sky). The regs say...ALL SPECIES - Aug. 1-Nov.30: night closure. June 1-Nov.30: selective gear rules

From what I can read, I can fish at night from June 1 - July 31... Not 100% sure and there is a really mean game warden in the area  :bash:

Btw I did get one  :IBCOOL: ......... That jumped off right at shore  :bash: :cryriver:

You got it right. My first steelhead was caught glowballing. It can be productive but the most productive time is when it starts getting light out. If a guy wanted to go glowballing I would say hit the river 2 or so hours before it gets light that way you can get the morning bite in too. :twocents:

Technically A "glowball" is a glow in the dark corky. Its a term I use to refer to night fishing also, weather it be with bait jigs or what ever.

We used to put the glow in the dark corky under our jacket and flash it with a cheap little camera strobe light.  You really get a bright glow out of it for quite a while.  It lasts longer in cold weather but you just flash it again when it starts getting dim.  You do it under your jacket because if you look at it when it flashes you can't find your truck for an hour.

Those glow corkies are good chit at Drano for summer steelhead too....  Spent a lot of nights and caught a lot of fish using them and sand shrimp..
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Thanks guys. I guess I will give it a shot. Hopefully they still bite without a piece of sandshrimp (selective gear rules). Will they still bite a silver spoon at night  :dunno:

I've caught plenty of fish at night on just glowballs, no bait. If your gonna throw gear like spinners/spoons don't overlook black ;)
