Bass fishing at night
« on: July 24, 2012, 06:37:23 PM »
I used to bass fish at night and had great times.  I want to get back into it again but noticed at every WDFW launch area there is a sign that reads - "Closed to hours of darkness"  Kinda sucks!  I guess now I need to find someone who lives on a lake and get permission from there :dunno:  Any one have any suggestions?

Top water!!! I've done best on buzzbaits in black. It is truly a riot!

I had good luck fishing at night with spinnerbaits and jerkbaits.

Topwater I found to be best right as it was getting dark, but during the dark it seemed that the topwater bight would slow down. :twocents:

Good idea but kindof a hassle.. I've always preferred the moon lit nights, wonder if that's considered hours of darkness, probably so

I think you could go ahead and launch your boat and fish at night without getting hassled by the law.  It's not like they lock the gates at the launches (at least not the ones I know of).  Yeah, with a full moon, topwater can work well throughout the night.

Yeah, I was looking to fish at night, as well. When the time comes I will launch and 8:00 or so and have my wife drive my rig back home and them pick me back up. Although, I think you could park at a State launch all night, I doubt your truck windows would last too long :chuckle:

Fished Ohop after work last evening, and there was like 2 or three piles of glass in the parking lot. It makes me nervous to park at some launches in the daylight.

 :yeah:

As far as baits, anything dark colored for night fishing. Black, dark purple and dark reds all work good regardless of technique! Don't overlook jigs either, crawdads are out at night and the bass are well aware of this fact :chuckle:

I too would look into getting dropped, I have come into boat launches after midnight and stumbled into a lot of interesting people :yike:

Have fun, be safe and pack it if you got it!!

Bass fishing is a blast at night .. like right now is prime time because the water is warmer and top water should be awesome right now ...I like to find places where I can walk around a lake . My favorite lures are Hulapoppers - jitterbugs and Rapela ( floating) ..Bigger bass always come into shallow water at night so I would cast along the banks edge and start popping that popper and all you will feel is the tension on the line and a loud splash as he hits your lure ....its a ball and now I am about to pack up and head to Moses Lake  :dunno: :yeah:
