Blacktail; Calls, Scents, Rattles?
« on: August 01, 2012, 11:44:14 AM »
I just bought a rattle bag, tinks #69, bombs and a Mad Hyper Growl Deer Call for my hunt in Oklahoma this year, figured I would give them a shot.

Has anyone tried any of these on Washington Black tails with any luck? I hear some of the "old school" guys I used to hunt with here joke about how worthless they were and said calls, rattles, scents, etc. were just a waste of money. I hear the opposite from the folks in Oklahoma they love all that stuff, they wont swear by any one method just to try and see what works best.

I never have used them in Washington, any thoughts?

Good luck in Oklahoma. There have been past threads about use of scents, calls, etc on there.

I did do a search, I found alot on Elk, bear and duck calls, a couple posts on rattles with limited info, and a post on scent but most was referring to bench-legs or mule deer. I was looking more Black tail specific that's what I have in my area and would like more info than what I found.
