Jumping the string
« on: August 05, 2012, 09:08:10 PM »
Will a deer, elk, whatever, jump a string more often while relaxed, maybe feeding obliviously or when they're alert and looking at you or around in your general direction?  I've read both online but seemed like more places and people said that a deer will jump a string more often when it's in a relaxed state than when alert.

The only 2 deer I have had jump a string on me were alert..one was a miss over the top and the second one whirled around and ended up not hitting anywhere where I was aiming, but was fatal enough to get another shot and finish him..elk I have never had a issue with any elk jumping a string

I have had deer only jump the string on me when they were on alert! I have been amazed how far they dip to some how avoid the arrow coming right at their lungs. When they are relaxed and feeding I've never had a problem with the 'Deer Dip'!! (new dance video my kids made up for deer that jump the string LOL)

Some pretty interesting vids on Youtube. Most, if not all, I saw were on alert.
