Taneum 336 cow tags
« on: August 24, 2012, 03:51:38 PM »
Our group of 4 pulled cow elk tags, then our private access unexpectedly fell through. Our tags coincide with general season, so we were planning on just staying on a stand when the animals start moving.  Any lowland suggestions?

I'm assuming this is modern, but even if it is not it has to be muzzy....either should be a gimmee if you do any scouting at all.  I don't think you need private access to kill a cow in that GMU.  Do you have access issues due to age disssability, etc?

You should be able to fill 4 of 4..... If you try really hard...... If not at least 2 of them.....

I drew that tag in 2008.  I huted for 5 days and didnt see an elk. i suggest checking the WDFW website for harvest reports. This is not a for sure hunt.  I did see three trophy mule deer hiking the hills.  I assume your cow tags are for the general season and don't allow for harvest until the 5th day of the hunt.  By that time most of the low land elk have spread to the darkest highest spots in the unit, or resting easy in the reserve. Get off the roads, put in your time and pray for cold weather. Good luck.  :hello:

Cow tags have definitely gotten harder to fill these days in taneum, and manastash.  If you put in time you should fill it.  I would set up where you can see some area towards the old hart k (the safety zone).  They will be heading there.  But if you want a quality hunt start scouting.  There are alot of elk in the area they just head for cover when shots start going off, and more people hit the woods.  It will be busy.
