Staining Bleached Shed Antlers
« on: September 19, 2012, 12:47:35 PM »
I have a lot of bleached antler sheds that i would like to bring back to life for some projects.  Anyone have any recommendations on which Minwax Stain color to use for Whitetail and Mule deer?  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Minwax Oak?  Would that be plain Oak or Golden Oak?  I have used Natural and Golden Pecan with not much luck.

I will have to check when I get off work, it works ok if you go slow and work in the ivory tips. There is a video on youtube also of the wild antler magic on a elk shed and it looks great. I think the kit is $40

Same stuff bigtine is talking.   There is a particular variety of minwax but I can't think of it at the moment.  Put it on and coat it WHILE wet with MUD.  Rub it in.   Let dry, then take the dirt off.   WORKS UNBELIEVABLY  well.   I can't stand stained antlers.   This you can't tell   HUGEST critique of stained antlers HERE.
