What was the reason for it to go to permit only, Thats easy, there was no cover and the elk needed time to repopulate and disperse. Now that is done it needs to go back  to a general season. No point for it to be a permit anymore.

So why not the toutle? Why not the nooksack? White river? Let's open them all up for general season. I don't really care I'm not going to draw this tag again for a long time and would like to hunt it general season along with everyone else but we only had what 5 choices in the bull category? The other four weren't even worth puttin in for to me. Sure this unit isn't gonna give you good odds at a 300+ bull like your nooksack tag or a white river tag but the lack of pressure and amount of elk make it appealing to me. If it were to become a general area it would be over run and probably ruined. Although I would be right there with everyone else.

Toutle needs to be general also. I have said that before. Nooksack I dont think could withstand a general season , just not that many elk there . Whiteriver , sure Id go for that for general. More general areas that are open for hunting the less pressue is put on all units. Look at the winston with the number of elk there and also the pressure it gets. Those elk have no issues getting wiped out. If hunters diepersed over those 3 units it would be much better hunting all around.

So what units are going to replace these units for quality bull?????

SO if a quality bull draw permit is 13.00 and there IS NOTHING left for the wetside hunters on the southern part of the state to put in for.. HOW MUCH MONEY IS WDFW GOING TO LOSE???????

Then cry about lack of funds and need to raise prices again...

Region 5 is getting screwed in the ass over all this...

Because I know if and when the Margaret goes to a general tag, I will NEVER put in for a Quality bull tag in this state again... hell, I like hiking the backcountry.. I will just hunt the Margaret from now on as long as I am physically able....
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

I see your point but I still disagree, I'd like to see a few special permit areas still around and to me the margaret is an awesome hunt as far as opportunities go. I'd much rather them double the permits given than open it as a general season. I wish we had more limited quota hunts, like most other western states.

You have to understand something...

THIS UNIT IS PRIVATE PROPERTY AND WILDERNESS...

not land that the natives can go crazy on.. hell most of it is hike in only.....  IT NEEDS TO STAY WILDERNESS.  IT NEEDS TO STAY PERMIT ONLY.

The main reason for it going General Bull is AGNEW's MONEY buying his way through the WDFW...  He is the one that bought the biggest chunk of the high lakes area... Rumor has it he wants to build a Hunting Lodge, and sell hunts on his land.  HE CAN NOT DO THAT IF IT IS PERMIT ONLY!!!!!!  Hell he can not hunt his own land there if it is permit only....
If he has any influance on the wdfw then it's probaly already a done deal, but I sure hope one guy can't have that much influence on making that kind of change. That would really suck in this case, I mostly care about the white but that's probably for a different post.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

Actually I agree more with this than making it all general. That is actually how I like to see things done. Id love to see how somw of my general areas would do with quality with limited tags.
