Coming Home. Any fish left?
« on: October 19, 2012, 11:51:22 PM »
Got some great news that I will be redeploying earlier than expected and should also be home in time for the birth of my son.  In the meantime I was wondering where I could catch a Silver or a Chum in November. I was thinking it might be a little late for Silvers but I think Chums will be running then?  I live in Lacey but am willing to drive an hour or two to get away and just relax.  I'd prefer to get away from the crowds as much as possible so driving a ways, hiking or doing whatever it takes to get a little privacy and maybe a fish I'm willing to do.  Thanks for any advice and I look forward to getting back to the Great North West, and back to my loving family.

If you have a boat, Totten inlet is starting to fill with chums that are still bright.  I'm gonna hit it in a couple of weeks to stock up on eggs.

the skokomish should have both chums and late silvers around now.  when i used to fish it a lot, usually the last week of october/first week of november you could wear your arms out on chums.  purple jig under a bobber was my favorite method(and you very rarely ever snag one that way).

aside from that, you've got the various creeks that run into the sound that should have chums.  pretty much a coho only show if you head west, none of those rivers have seasons on dogs any more.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

Thanks for the tips.  I'll be bank fishing so hopefully I can find a decent spot someplace where I won't have to fight the crowds.  I plan on making the best of this winter.  Catch up on lost time with my wife, daughter and soon to be son, do a little fishing, and chase blacktails with my recurve in December.  So many good memories await me. I am truly blessed.
