Methow 242 Whitetail Doe tag
« on: September 27, 2012, 11:03:18 PM »
Picked up a second deer tag this year for modern. I have a place down by Methow, but not to many whiteys to chase down there.  Wondering if anyone has an idea where I can grab some private land up around Twisp river road to pop some camp meat opening weekend or public land is fine too? Appreciate any suggestions.
I'm gonna try down around Libby Creek and a couple spots south of me where I've seen some does in the past, but would like a backup plan.

I've just never been up the valley where more whitetails hang out.

My buddy shot one three years ago at the end of twisp river road down by war creek when he had a modern doe tag.  We figured out with how many people hunt modern there that if we just drove about 5 mph and let everyone fly by us on the road the deer would step out after people would fly by us so after two days of just driving slow he shot his doe after this truck flow by she step in sight and whammo whitetail doe down.  After we figured out what to another guy in camp had another doe tag and that's how he filled his tag also.  I know not much sport in the hunt but you get a doe tag to fill the freezer.  You could try around patterson lake also theres always whitetail in the field at the end of the lake. Just be careful because there is private property by there.

Not a bad plan.  I think you are right with the areas though.  I need to get out some maps of that Patterson, there is quite a bit of private there.  I just haven't explored enought.  Need to fill up the tank and get out there.

Thanks for the response.

I have no problem shooting one out of your yard.  This is a total camp meat tag and would love to fill it the first day or two, then I can head up the hill with the boys and chase the big muleys around.

If you are serious, PM me.
I have 3 acres down by Methow and we will be camped out there all week.
