Hows it looking in the skok??
« on: October 31, 2012, 02:16:17 PM »
Gonna leave tomorrow after breakfast for my quality archery tag in the skokomish unit. Anyone have any reports on the rut in the area. Hoping to fill my tag asap. I dont have time to hold out and be choosey. Trying to make this my first deer and do good on my tag. Wish me luck  everyone! and thanks to those who gave me some tips in my other thread!!!

Dont expect it to be easy.  Monday was tough hunting for me.  Not much sign of the rut where I was at.  Good luck!  If you dont have much time then shoot the first legal buck you see  :twocents:

damn not what i was hoping to hear. perhaps i need to pack a fishing pole instead.... Oh well honestly Im not going to be picky even if I could. I have exams to study for and would prefer to do so in the comfort of my home. the sooner i can take care of this tag the less ill feel like i have a dark cloud over my shoulder about studying!! Ill take the first legal buck I get a chance at!!!

I saw several deer the other day out looking for mushrooms, nothing big but they are still sniffing does pretty good. They are all still nocturnal going by my trail camera, the big ones at least. Lots of rubs since the last time I was in the woods, I was gone for about 10 days and boy what a difference.

I didn't notice any new rubs at all for over a week. Then just yesterday I found 7 new rub lines, consisting of about 5-10 rubs each

Nope. I drive a newer black blazer. Or a late 80s chevy pickup.

Awesome guys this is exactly what I was hoping to hear !! I wish I could make it their in time to at least hunt Friday evening but I gotta wait till the my daughter gets out of school and drop em off at the inlaws for the weekend so Saturday morning im gonna give it a go and the first thing I can get a good shot at that has a fork or more is going down. I will be out with my wife who can spot a deer a mile away (she's one of those people with the natural ability to spot).the sooner I'm done the better!!
