Yep, cougars are in there. I have seen them more than a few times. We saw a nice sized cat early bow this year.

Might I ask a general location?
The one I shot at was on the back side of Rife Lake...
Sorry to thread jack.

19 mile side, 510 rd about 1/4 mile from 500 intersection.

This is why I...

A) Am done with Modern season and am going to Archery
because
B) When I go to Central/Eastern Wa, I can pass all the road hunters and find a great spot to walk in, and not see anyone ALL DAY. Plus the odds of rain are less and it isn't 21 degrees, like it was Saturday morning in the Winston....

Excited to bid farewell to Modern Firearm... Too many, much too many people, alot of whom are complete idiots/disrepectful people...

also, did anyone else in the Winston see the guys running around in a pickup, standing in the bed? Probably 4-5 guys, all bearing what looked like AR's, driving 40-50 mph around the entire unit, hootin and hollerin.... I woulda personally paid a Gamie's salary for the day to actually work the unit and get all the morons out of there... probably woulda seperated the good from the bad!

I seen 2 of them in the back of a white Dodge crew cab on opening day.  We were on our way out in the early afternoon with my wife's bull.  I seen the same group later in the week, with 3 Dodge pickups and all of the trucks had guys in the back with what looked to be AR platform rifles. Definitely not a good look for hunters and I would think that the gamies would have stopped them.

On a side note, we never seen one gamie in there and we hunted 6 days.  We spent most of our time in the timber, so maybe we just never crossed paths with them.   :dunno:

It boggles me that they are all over Cap Forest and not one person in our group has seen one since opening day in the Winston.... very odd for "Game Management" to not be out lookin for idiots like that... Congrats on the Bull btw! Wish i coulda filled the freezer this winter.

I hunted 6 days also and never saw a Gamie! I talked to one last year and she was the only one working Cowlitz county!  :yike: I was shocked but that's the way it is with all the budget cuts.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!
