Lens I.D. and question
« on: December 08, 2012, 07:46:47 PM »
Need help identifying what this lense is. I know it's an older lense, likely for film use, but will it work for a DLSR? Even if it can, is it high enough quality to warrent use on a newer camera? And lastly (most importantly) what kind of camera body does this actually fit?

Side of the barrel...
TOYO OPTICS SKYLIGHT(1A) 67mm Japan

Looking down the top of the barrel...
FIVES STAR,  MC,  AUTO,  ZOOM,  No.K8605394,  1:3.8-5.2,  28-135mm,  67 (there is an 0 with a / through it after the 67 but I dont have a key for that  ;))

Additionally, any info on how to tell what lenses fit what bodies would be greatly appreciated. I find the whole lense/body correlation extremely confusing. Thanks in advance.

That's diameter, so something has a diameter of 67mm.

yeah the 0 with the / through it indicates the diameter of the lens. so for buying filters or other screw on accessories you would need a 67 (mm? i assume) diameter filter.

other than that i have no idea

I can't find a definitive answer, but many bayonets are compatible.  You will loose auto-focus and aperture adjustment, meaning that you will have to do everything manually.

It seems to be a slightly less than run of the mill lens, and I would not base any decision on buying a DSLR camera body on this lens.
