My guess is to hot. I have seen marks like that when playing on the upper end of loads.

The primers don't look that bad to me--the edges are still rounded.  Does that ejector mark occur with all brass, or just Lapua brass?  That's a pretty big case.  I'm told Lapua brass is softer than others, but I don't know from personal experience.  Never used Lapua brass....

Look at the peened mark in the base from ejector pin.  :yike:

I know of 2 788 Remington in 222  both shot the same load one needed a 2x2 block to open the bolt and the other just fell open. Just the differance in the chamber.

When I first got into the short mags and started playing with them I had a 270wsm that was a 700, that sob would not the brass with the ejector pin on almost every load. Alway drove me nuts. Most were not to hot, but some has some zest :chuckle:

I would say back it off and look at your COAL as well.

It looks like the ejector isn't flushing with the bolt face, and the brass is pushing into the ejector channel.  maybe the ejector is too short?  I think I'd send the gun back to the manufacturer with a fired case so they can see what's happening.  If the loads were really hot, the primers would be flattened right into the primer pocket, and be hat-shaped when they are pushed out by the decapping pin.  :twocents:

Another thing you might check is the thickness of the case necks.  The neck has to expand a tiny bit in the chamber on firing to release the bullet.  If the neck is a tight fit in the chamber, it may take more pressure to release the bullet.  You may need to neck-turn a scosh off your case necks.

 :yeah:

I agree.  The other thing you might try is another primer.  I have had alot of problems with consistency with those damn CCI primers.  I have had the best luck with Federal and Winchester. :twocents:

Just because it's under max listed load does not mean it's not to high for your gun. Looks like ejector scuff and flattened out primers. I would try a different powder if you where not happy with lower loads. Also maybe a different primer.
