Harvester muzzy bullets?

Just found this brand bullets online and thought they looked pretty good. Anybody have any experience with them hunting or at the range?

They are my favorite M/L bullet by far.

I shoot the 400 grain Hard Cast (all Lead) bullets.    They kill deer and elk very nicely...... as do everyone else's favorite bullet when properly placed.

But I love the wound channel I get from those bad boys.    I think I've killed about a dozen elk with them now.   From very short range to about 125 yards.   

They punch a mean hole.

I've not tried any of their others on game because I'm so totally satisfied with these.

I've used the hard cast bullets, and the Scorpions. Killed a  blacktail with a 330 grain hardcast bullet a coule years ago. No problems. This year I decided to try a jacketed bullet, since they are now legal, and I shot an elk with a Harvester Scorpion. Never will use those on elk again. Maybe deer. On a broadside shot at 80 yards, no bone hit, the bullet did not exit. So I would use the hard cast bullets before the Scorpions on elk. Which bullet were you considering? The prices are definitely more than fair. And I like their "crush rib" sabot.

I thought they all looked pretty good. Didn't have one particular bullet in mind. Want to try something new out of my newer night muzzleloader. Just was courious to see others results with any of there bullets. Thanks for the input.

Here are some pics of the 300gr Scorpion PT Gold shot at a chronographed muzzle velocity of 1,900 fps.  The first pic is a 100yd impact through two 3/8" sheets of plywood spaced about 3-4" apart backed by a 10" sand bag.  In my mind, these bullets did well.  280 & 281gr weight retension and had excellent expansion with complete penetration.  Picture 2 is of the same load recovered from a bull elk shot at 60-70yds.  Retension was 191 & 193gr and the expansion was not nearly as wide as the target load.  Neither of these two bullets hit major bone and both were broad side impact shots.  After seeing this, I think that these bullets are probably going to be good deer sized game bullets but I am going to work with a different load now for elk.  I have had good success with the Barnes 250 & 290gr T-EZ bullets but I am going to experiment with the Speer .452 300gr Deep Curl this off season.  There are a some guys on this site that have stated they had excellent results with the Speer and they are much cheaper to shoot than the Barnes.

I agree. The Scorpion Funnell Points are complete garbage.

My only comment is that there are better bullets on the market that you could use.

I personally do not like how they pancaked but at least they stayed together, which is a lot better than some Hornady bullets.

I've never used these but take a look at www.prbullet.com and take a look at the "Dead Center" bullets.  I shot my bull and my white  tail this year with them and was thoroughly impressed.  I haven't wieghed them yet but they look like they retained pretty much all of their weight and didn't pancake.  I used the 300 grain dead centers for both animals and dropped my bull where he stood at 100 yards.

I have some of those Dead Centers, but have never shot an animal with them. They have a good reputation and are priced reasonably.

The Precision Rifle Bullet website is a great place to go for info and they have a great selection of bullets.

I only got away from using them when Jacketed bullets became legal. But I may give them another try.

PT Gold is an awesome bullet. Its hard to find a bullet better than this one at the price. SST/SW dont even come close to comparing.

110gr Blackhorn209, This one went through a bucket filled with 5 gallons of damp sand and then hit a sandstone backing. 224 recovered grains out of 260.
