what would you pay?
« on: January 13, 2013, 08:03:14 PM »
What would you pay for a tikka t3 stainless 338 win mag topped with a Vari X 1 4-12x40?   Just got it in a trade. I know the previous owners and know they haven't shot more than a few boxes through it. Some wear marks here and there, but its a used gun.  What's it worth? Or, what would you pay?   Thanks.

I would only buy it without the scope.
That scope won't live long on a rifle with that kind of recoil.
The rifle is worth $575 in a less violent cartridge.
Maybe $525 in lower 48.
I would advertise it in Alaska, as they like their cartridges like they like their women.....
Sell the scope separately, if you want to make money.

That is a pretty big round for a fairly lightweight rifle. Did the guy you get it from not like his shoulder much? Ouch!

The guy said its not a gun to target practice with. Thanks for the estimates fellas, now i know a starting price. We'll say 550 for the gun and 200 for the scope.
