See if you have compression in 2nd gear if so you broke a band .

ya 2nd gear works...  thats what my buddy mentioned was the band the he checked it out and said he doesnt think its the band now.. I have read up on it, and people have said it could be a linkage, or something to do with the emergency break cable??  or Tranny Fluid... Hell i dont have a clue, i am going to take it in tomorrow to get it diagnosed...   :bash: Piece of Chit...  :bash:
Their going down!!!

I had same problem with my 04 f-150, chasing a dog through my hay field and I put truck in reverse before I came to a full stop. One small pop and no reverse! Took it to ford dealer. $750 for new tranny and $500 to install. I thought I got off cheap for a dumb mistake on my part.

So when your rolling in 2nd gear say 20ish and let off the gas doe's it just free wheel or doe's it have engine braking . if it just free wheels the bands broke and isn't to bad of fix . often a trans can be fixed without a full rebuild .

I will check that out..  Could it be if the Tranny fluid is low it would make reverse not work?

So, let me ask, what model of trans is it?   I dont remember a particular ford trans that would break the sun shell, lose reverse and have all forward function fine. Band possibly, but would also not have compression in manual low position. Fluid level normally doesnt care if you want to move forward or reverse. but needs to be checked anyway.  just my 2 cents.
