Is there a difference between the two? can you shoot 5.56 through a .223 Wylde?

What the long or short answer. The wylde chamber is a match grade chamber for the 223. It has a longer throat for shooting long heavy 223 bullets. Basically it cant be used in a ar platform to its full potential unless you single feed it

My understanding, is that the difference is mainly due to the depth of the throat in the chambers.  The Wylde chamber is throated deeper for the heavier bullets, because they are seated further out, and won't cause an increase in chamber pressure if the bullet is touching the rifling.  Therefore it is safe to shoot military rounds or 223 civilian rounds in a wylde-chambered gun.  Personally, I don't think it makes much difference, since military 5.56 rounds are loaded 10,000 PSI hotter than 223 rounds anyway, and I load mainly 55 grain bullets, so COL is the same either way.  The Ogive of the heavier bullets might be different, though...
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

yes.. a Wylde chamber is essentially in between .223 and the 5.56mm mil chambering, and either round can be fired out of it, often with better accuracy than out of a regular 5.56 chambered rifle. Alot of the match AR rifles, like the Rock River, have Wylde chambers..
