Pooping areas?
« on: March 02, 2013, 10:52:00 AM »
I moved recently and now have 3 dogs instead of 2. sometimes 4 if the inlaws come. I am getting tired of shoveling poop all over this large yard I now have. I wonder has anyone heard of a way to get the dogs to go in one place? Kinda like a litter box area.

I've known people to actually train their "dogs" (if you can call a squirrel sized animal a dog)  :chuckle: to use a litter box (lived on a boat).

You could try using some of those "pee wee pads" you know, the pheramone treated pads & take your dogs there when its time to go  :dunno:

Yeah it's called a kennel with a cement floor.Dogs always empty after eating so to cut back on the corn in the yard, feed in a kennel until they do their buisness and then let them out, should cut back on the scooping in the grass by quite a bit.

I bet if you pay attention you'll note that each dog has a spot and uses a certain amount of that real estate to dump on,when you scoop they sniff around to find that spot again and let er go.

I trained my dog to only poop in the woods, didn't mean to but I did. He won't poop on the grass he will go up into the brush and pop a squat, if we're hiking he will even go off trail to go, won't do it on the trail. You could train them to poop in one area in a few weeks by taking them on a leash to one area until they poop that's apparently how I did it.

That's what my dog did too.  I didn't train him though; he just did it on his own.  I always assumed he didn't want to step in it.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

I didn't train my dog.....she just poops over the bank on her own 8) Whenever we are playing ball, and she all of the sudden runs off over the bank.....I know what she is doing  :chuckle:

I have trained my last three labs to poop in a certain area on our lawn. You can train dogs to do about anything, it just takes alot of work and repetition on the owners part.  Good Luck
