PF banquet, anyone going?
« on: January 27, 2013, 07:06:40 PM »
Picked up some information about the pheasants forever banquet in march wondering if anyone is going or has been in years past?  Is it a good time, I went to the rmef banquet last year and it was a blast.

Thanks

It's at the Fircrest golf and country club in Tacoma. I hope it gathers more interest and support. PF would definitely help make things happen more positively here on the West-Side.

I will be there   :hello:, I have made the last several and they are a good time. Usually lots of door prizes, and plenty of silent and live auction items as well  :IBCOOL:. The first banquet I went to with this chapter was in 2007, I had just purchased my duramax and they had a lifetime oil change for ANY vehicle in the live auction, I bought it for $500 and I am still using it today . It was a great buy.
My son and I had a real nice conversation with the volunteers at the sportsman show too. If all goes well we (both my kids) will be participating in their youth pheasant hunt on Ft. Lewis and one or two work parties this fall, if my memory serves me correctly they started some habitat work last fall in the lower crab creek area. It would be nice to do something closer to home but that does not look to be in the cards.

I think the tables generally seat 8 perhaps we can get a table or two of Hunt-WA folks to show?

I have gone before and it is a good banquet.  You will probably see some folks from Western Pheasant sites if you hit those frequently.  There are not as many gun give-aways at this banquet as some of the others but it is a smaller organization as well.  There are several good silent and live auction items.  The group does a great job and you should go.
The habitat improvement is in Lower Crab Creek/ Frenchman Hills area off of Hwy 26.  There should be plenty of information on this project at the banquet.  WDFW is also working to improve Upper Crab Creek and reestablish flow and habitat and there will probably be information on this project too.

Not being negative here, but I will never support Pheasants Forever.  5 years ago I signed my son up for their Ringnecks Program he was 10 years old this was the first and only time his name was ever out with a subscription to anything.  Next thing I know he is getting junk mail asking about his love life and if he needed to purchase any Viagra.  They had sold their mailing list.  I wrote many letters to their HQ in St. Paul, MN.  they would not even respond.   :bash: ..Now if they would of sent me the information that would of been one thing, but to a 10 year old????  :yike:

sounds more like an error in paperwork rather than an error in the organization, but we all have our reasons.

I for one WILL NOT support Ducks Unlimited because they want to flood my local pheasant release site for salmon habitat.  :twocents: I highly encourage any other pheasant hunters supporting DU to do some research and  reconsider renewing their membership to DU, Duck hunters should as well because this flooding will eliminate a lot of walk in opportunities for duck hunters with out a boat looking to access public land.    :bash:

I sent in my registration for the March 23rd banquet.  I think 2 or 3 of my hunting buddies are going as well.  Hope to see some of you there.
