Fishing Rod Storage inside truck canopy
« on: March 21, 2013, 06:48:58 PM »
I am looking for ideas on storing my rods inside my canopy for when I go on camping trips or even just running to the lake. I don't wanna just set it in the bed as I usually have other things in the bed and don't want to damage them. I have a fiberglass canopy with carpet inside so it has to be secure and able to hold the rods without falling off. I've seen some suction cup mounts that go on the glass but most people say they are junk and don't hold well. Also I have a short bed/canopy so chances are I'll have to separate the rod during transport depending on which one I take due to length. If anyone has some good idea's or even pictures of what you have or have done in the past if you have had a canopy, I would appreciate it! Thanks

PVE tubes running to the front stopping about half way back then a shorter section of PVC tubes on the rear with bungees.

Haha thanks!! Both ideas may work! I guess im a little skeptical about screwing a mount into the canopy never done it before and am not sure how much room there is to play with as far as screws. There is a small section thats a hump and I was told its for mounting things to so maybe i'll give that a shot as well for mountin purposes! Thanks guys!!

I would call your manufacturer to see what depth to set the screws  :twocents:

If you read further in that link I posted the guy used a glue to mount it.

Your right I saw that..he used JB weld, my only issue with that is Mine is carpeted it didn't sound like his was.. :dunno:

KFhunter I think your right Ill see if I cant get ahold of them and see what they say! My assumption would be no more than a 1/4 inch of screw but I may be wrong

If you have an 8 ft bed, rod mounts can work, not so well on a 6 ft bed, then you have to go diagonal for any rod over 6 ft, unless you break them down,
