Just after sunrise I saw a flock of 25-30 birds this morning in southern Stevens county. There was no gobbling at all and I couldn't get them to gobble. They were far enough away that I couldn't tell if any toms in the flock. I did hear turkeys gobbling in the evening near Eloika Lake in early February. My brother-in-law said they are gobbling at daylight on his place in southern Pend Oreille county.
We have had some real nice weather, high 60's and not freezing at night. Today is colder but still high 50's. The snow has melted on most open areas and south slopes. I still have not heard a gobble on my morning walk. I did hear the flock very excited in the woods this morning about 6:30am. I clucked and two coyotes came into the field. They must have been chasing them. I normally would hear gobblers at sunrise in more than one direction. We have turkeys in my area, but nothing like the numbers of a few years ago. The two hard winters and two very wet springs have reduced the number of birds.
Dale, I never doubted you as you always have some great places. Problem I have is getting up early enough on the weekend to make it to the ranch to see if they are active on the roost. But i will have to do it soon. Only 8 days left.

There are not as many birds as there used to be, some areas have far fewer birds but some areas still have good flocks, that area you like to hunt should be fine. The toms that don't have hens are running around looking for hens and gobbling their heads off, should be good calling on the opener this year. GOOD LUCK!
