Need a gunsmith
« on: April 05, 2013, 03:59:37 PM »
does anyone know of a good gunsmith that works on shotguns? I have a Remington 1100 that will fire and kick the shell out but will not chamber another round on its own. Ive cleaned it good checked the rings to make sure the spacing wasn't lined up and cant figure it out. preferably around the Puyallup Tacoma area.

Not excatly in your area, but Bernie's gun repair in covington is a great old timer, not fast by any means, but does excellent work. (253) 631-4035

Last I talked to Bernie he was closing up shop. I called about two weeks ago and never got a call back.

I recently had a Savage 720(browning A5 clone) completely cleaned/repaired by Kelly, a gunsmith I found through Top Guns in north Seattle.  His number is 360-691-3146. I don't know if you have to go through Top Guns shop (206-801-7390) but Kelly did a good job for me  and test fired the gun to make sure it wokrked.

I would say the rings are shot.  How old is the gun.  I have an older 1100, still like new.  Bought it in 82. It started acting up.  sent to Brownells, got new ser of rings, problem solved.
