Youth turkey results
« on: April 08, 2013, 12:14:25 AM »
Matt was able to kill his first ever turkey early on Saturday morning.  :) We had some intense action with two huge strutters right in front of us. Unfortunately they never cleared out from behind some thick brush and started getting ancy so matt scored on a nice size jake. We hunted hard the next two days and narrowly missed some other opportunities.  :bash: Finally on the last night with just minutes of legal shooting time left twin brother Jacob shot just over a big gobblers head.  :'( Tough blow there, but still a great start to what should be a great season.

Congrats on his first bird.  Been trying to get geared up for my son (8) to take a turkey but he's just a bit too small yet.  How long have you guys been at it and at what age did you start him turkey hunting?  He must have been really pumped up!

Wonder, he is 13 years old and this was his first ever day of turkey hunting. His twin brother missed two other shots and a third brother never got a shot. I'v been huntin myself 15 years and I'm still in my early 20s

Its not Lincoln county, up in the Coluckum. I'll tell you what, the remington 870 is a great turkey gun. I had one in 20 gauge for about my first 5 seasons. Killed every single bird I ever shot at. It did the job from anywhere to a point blank 5 foot shot out to 45 yards. I didn't miss till a few years later with a 12 gauge benelli nova.  :yike:
