Electronic calls for elk?

I was curious of its illegal to use a Foxpro with cow/calf sounds in conjunction with a Montana decoy? Obviously the Montana decoys are fine, how about the foxpro? Could be deadly over a wallow from a tree stand

Yes you can! It's only prohibited for Turkey, waterfowl and Deer!

Yes, legal for elk, but why?  Elk calls are some of the easiest and funnest calls to use IMO.

Agreed. I love my diaphrams and am planning on trying out Phelps' calls too. But I have a good wallow I was contemplating setting a tree stand up on and putting my foxpro below my tree stand, at the wallow with a Montana decoy. Might help draw in a bull coming to the wallow. It sounds like it'd work in theory, but I can't stand to sit for more than 1-2 hours anyways...

I have a buddy who uses one to act as his caller setup 30-50 yards behind him.  It gives him full control while drawing the elk past his location.  He would much rather call himself but most of the time he hunts solo. He has had some decent success using the foxpro.

It's not for me but I believe they are effective in the right situations.

Exactly what I'm thinking. Something to get the calls back and away from myself.

Ya i could see it being handy, My pack us usually heavy enough tho. Maybe if you found some close enough to a road, but in the deep woods I try to go in lite and come out heavy!
