Has anyone ever fished salt water at night in wa? In marine area 2 it dosent have a night closer so I was thinking about throwing some glow in the dark jigs and maybe fish off the bottom. Any advice?

we used to fish at night at the piers for hake and the occasional salmon.

Get a light and shine it in the water. we used a 100 watt bulb and all kinds of fish would attract to it

Ever tried on the skykomish?

It seems like my epic line failures have happened in the dark. Usually on my first cast.

Typically drift fishing, but I have caught steelhead plunking, and on floats/jigs or bait. I have had success on the sky also. Typically ill head out a few hours early and fish in the dark, and also catch the first light bite.

I used to night fish the Sky in the Late 70s a lot. What a hoot!! Lewis St., Rieter's,Fortson;s on the N. Stilly . Wasn't enough dayligt hour I could fish for Iron back then. Learn the feel of a bite instead of watching your tip. Having Steel jump in the moonlight is sumpin to see

Less pressure at night and no boats its my favorite way to fish steelhead

that use to be the only time we would ever fish for bass back in the day, we never kept any but we did catch some hogs... i have heard that salt water type fish are really active at the tide change at night, never have fishe the salt at night... good luck

Looks like the only thing on the sky that doesnt have night closure is the north fork. Dont think I've fished that high before. Might have to find a spot.

I have caught a lot of fish in the dark, but none out in the salt. Ringold used to be an awesome night fishery.

Since when? I think most of it is closed to salmon fishing at night to curb the snagging but a lot of itis open for steelhead.

it is in oregon, but it's on a case by case basis here. most rivers are open to it until around august, and then after november, mainly due to night time snagging issues during salmon season. they're all open at night unless otherwise stated in the regs.

i used to love fishing the kalama down at beginners hole for steelhead this time of year, get off work at 2, be on the river by 3, and be heading home with limits by 4:30. the local hicks with their treble hooks ruined that one, it's got a night closure now.

Its easier to get home with those natives if you do it after dark.

That was intended to be funny but could be easily construed as being nasty

My sole intention was to give you the spurs, and rub salt into open wounds just because I am mean and cold hearted.
