During the early archery elk season I was walking past a shallow swampy lake I've been by several times, I always assumed it was to shallow to hold fish. This time however it was right before dark on a nice warm evening and it was covered with rolling fish, they looked like nice fish. I told myself I've got to get back and wet a line, so I did it today, it was wet and cold probably not the best day for fishing but my suspicions were right, the fish were dandies. I only caught 4 but they ranged from 15" to 20", dang nice for Eastern Brook, heck dang nice for any trout. Thought I would share a few pics from my phone. Didn't get a picture of the biggest fish, I dropped him and the line hooked around a limb and snapped, oh well, wasn't going to keep em anyway. I love the colors on the Brookies...

Nice find, I thought the same as you (to shallow for fish) but had similar results. It's a great lake with some nice fish.

I think a few of you have this lake confused with a few other lakes with the same name. Houndhunter knows which one it is but it's a small lake that would be impacted severely if everyone in the state hit it so I'm not going to identify its location. I'm kind of greedy I guess...

Good idea Coon! That lake would be fished to nothing in a heart beat! We started fishing it when I was about 12 years old, biggest I have gotten is 20" and my cousin got one about 24"!!!!! Most go between 12" and 16". I try and fish it once a year just for old time sakes. When we first started the lake was actually deeper and larger, it is slowly shrinking. But that deep hole with the big log in it always produces as does the big log you walk across to get to the island.

Very colorful fish! As a young boy in Pennsylvania, the majority of trout we caught were Brookies! My favorite! Great photos.

Dont tell anyone where it is at even some friends. I used to fish a lake up here in Whatcom county that was small like that but loaded with 18 to 24" cutthroat. Then I hiked a couple of my friends in there. One of them squeaked to the old local tackle shop, and bam!!! No more trout, and lots of people and TRASH.

Thats my sad story.

Its amazing how many miles some people will hike to kill a nice trout...
