Walleye help....Liberty lake?
« on: July 29, 2013, 09:54:38 PM »
Ok so I am new to fishing the northwest and need help in catching some walleye.

First questions has anyone ever caught one in liberty lake? WDFW says they stock them there but the fishing this time of year is poor. I figured I could at least catch one but no luck.

Second this was my first time using a bottom bouncer (3/4 oz). I tied a wedding ring and added a worm to it. I caught sunfish, yellow perch and even a small bass. I assume I am using it correctly since I caught something. I idled my 9.9 hp motor down as low as it would go and dropped the line. it was hard to tell when it hit the bottom when I was moving but if i didn't drop it while trolling I always got snagged in weeds. I was in 18-25 feet, the deepest part of the lake. I do now I hit the bottom.

Finally, I'm thinking about making the trip to Lake Roosevelt tomorrow. Worth the trip?

Thanks in advance.

thats a weed filled bottom of a lake. There isnt really great walleye fishing in that lake. The southwest end of the lake holds a few along with smallies and largemouths by the rocks

perhaps a review of the rules I think your fish have a 16 inch min size to them as a state wide rule in the lakes. one looks like a go-back. Not trying to being a site cop, but just saying.

There is no size restriction at Lake Roosevelt. This is a good reminder to check both the species and the water rules. You had me worried for a second. Thanks for mentioning it though!!

At Liberty fish the Walleye in front of the boat launch about 100 yards in each direction and not to far out.  I have caught them before in that area of the lake.  The SE corner is good for trout and bass but I have not pulled a walleye in the se corner before (in front of the park).
It's a TIKKA thing..., you may not understand.
