Second Deer Question
« on: August 23, 2013, 03:58:52 PM »
I was drawn this year for a Second Deer Hunt in Colfax.  My question is:  If I go to colfax and shoot a doe with my second deer tag first, can I then go to Manastash and hunt a legal buck.  There is a Monster deer up there that I have seen 3 times during elk season, I want him.  Is that legal to do?
"We got a little distracted by somebody doin' the Repeater."

"Huh. That'll happen.  That will happen."

Yes it is legal to use your primary tag after using the second tag first. They are independent of each other.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

I knew I can harvest a doe first, But I can use the primary in a different GMU than the special hunt?

Your 1st General Tag is not affected, changed or revised in any way because you drew a second tag in another GMU.  You can go hunt your buck in Manastash.  As long as it is a general hunt GMU.
If you aint hunting, you aint livin'

they are seperate from each other.  so yes,  you can shoot a doe in the gmu for the tag and then harvest a legal buck in another gmu.

don't forget you have to purchase a second deer license.
It is what you meant it to be...

Yes is the answer.  Last year I drew a doe tag (whitetail) for the general season AND a late whitetail buck tag for the Nov. rut.  I could shoot two deer..... Now if I took a big mulie buck during my whitetail doe tag (general season or any buck for that matter) I would have had to forfeit my late buck whitetail tag.  Hope that helps.
