rear open sights on Bighorn

Well I went out yesterday to shoot my new Bighorn Rifle.  I am using  2 50/50 Pyrodex Pellets behind a  Hornady 300 SST bullet.  At 50 yards this rifle shot very tight three shot groups.  I had to raise the rear sight past the side marks in order to get it on at the 50 yard mark.  Is this normal.  I am trying to hold the front sight even with the red dot rear sights.

would say that is a no    . you might like to try and just start over at the 25 yard line and get it hitting center there before moving out for  longer shots   .if it right out of the box  you really shouldn't have had to mess with the sights much at all  that one reason i would go back and restart from the 25yard line  sounds like the rifle is grouping well now its just a matter of making sure its hitting at the place your aiming .

Thank you.  I am pretty sure I am hitting at point of aim but surprised I had to hike the rear sight up so much, ended up just past the elevation marks on the right side.  The sight is still holding tight so it should not be an issue.  Guess with these eyes a 50 yard shot may be near max of what I can do with open sights.

I had trouble getting consistent elevation with the stock rear sight, which led to some vertical stringing.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with my optometrist telling me I need bifocals, because that was a clear case of medical malpractice.
