Does anybody know if i will need a dog to hunt this area? My dad has our dog over east for the weekend and was wondering if i will be able to get my dead ducks with just chest waders?

Yeah, a dog or a float tube is a must to retrieve your birds. As stated the water can get deep at high tide and there are hidden holes and ditches.
Fish hard, hunt harder!

I hunt Spencer a bit during the year.  A dog is needed for most shots if you're shooting from the dike or ditches but you could pack in a canoe and do well on the right sort of day.

I believe that Spencer is boat access only as they are still working on the road to it.  As for a dog, I won’t take my dog there because the place is full of broken glass and discarded sharp edged meal trash.  I like my dog too much to see him ripped open.

I've not been out there this year, but the park to the south is definitely walk in.  I've always found it kinda interesting that I can be hunting in Spencer while watching couples stroll on the path around the dike.  If the access is limited my guess is it will only be restricted for a short period of time but defer to anyone who's been out there this year.
