3 week soak--0 pictures
« on: November 18, 2013, 01:32:03 PM »
Well, 3 weeks ago I went on a bike/scouting/hunting/trail cam installation mission. I zigged when I shoulda zagged, ended up in an area I did not intend to end up in, made a long bike ride back out and couldn't go to where I wanted to originally because I had other time commitments. I went and totally randomly put my camera in a spot I knew nothing about and I literally got -0- pictures. I didn't want to waste the trip so I just hung it to a tree along the edge of a big clearcut. I thought for sure there'd be a deer or 2 or 3 on it....I got one of me leaving and one one of me when I got there today so I know the camera was working...anywho...it was close to home so no big loss...that was a pointless soak. My 1st westside cam and my first blank. I can't complain though... I had some good soaks on my eastside cameras I pulled earlier.

Maybe an apple out front might have helped?

You hit the nail on the head with that one.
Really weird. I wouldve thought there was something wrong with the camera had it not taken a few pictures of me. I left it out there with a new card because I didn't know at the time there was no pictures on the 1st card. I just plugged the card into the card reader and found the results. It's like coming downstairs at Christmas to find no gifts.
Booooo.....

Point taken.

This has to be the most boring Trail Camera forum thread ever.

Did you squish a few of those apples against the trees so that smell get in the wind?

Same luck I've had where my camera is--lots of pictures of the weeds moving in the wind, but not much else.  HOWEVER, the saplings right next to the tree I have the camera on have fresh antler rubs, and right outside of the camera's view, a coyote or something tried(?) to dig out a critter for food.  Just because you got no pictures, doesn't mean they aren't around.  Would have been nice to get pictures of them, though.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"
