Yeah, I was kinda spoiled on this hunt.  Father-in-law provided the land, front loader, shooting shack, electric hoist that the gambrel was connected to and a turkey dinner following the kill.  Kinda nice to have an easy one every once in a while.

Also...I was thankful to have my 4 yo son join me in the shooting shack on his first big game hunt.  Unfortunately he was too cold and only was able to hold out till 0800 before mom took him inside.  He did however get to hear the shot and ride on the tractor with grandpa to help recover the doe.

Nice doe! My Black Diamond despises those shockwaves, throws em all over the target, what's the secret to getting em to shoot straight?

What powder are you using to push it and how much?  Mine loves the pyrodex select 110 grains.  If I am on a bench I can keep 2" groups at 100 yards.  I can hit milk jugs to 200 yards all day long.  Bullet performance is also pretty amazing, though I did not recover this bullet.

Shooting 100 grains of Pyrodex pellots..  Mine loves the Powerbelt 295 grain bullet with that load behind it, but it hatesssss anything else I've shot.  I'm talking a 14 inch target and some bullets wont hit, and thats just at 75 yards.  I thought it was me just really sucking and I was about to give up shooting until I shot the powerbelts and keep them at a 1-1.5 3 shot group..  I'll look into pyrodex select, sorry to thread jack, just had to find out how to shoot these bullets haha.

No thread jacking here.  I love to hear about what works and doesn't work for others.  I haven't heard anything good about pellets...other than they are convenient.  Try loose power and pyrodex and let us know if that fixes the problem.  Do you shoot yours with the original fiber optic sights?  I replaced my rear sight with a williams peep and it made all the difference in the world.  The original sights suck in my opinion.  Anything past 75 yards and they completely cover up the target / game.

I do still have the original sights but I shot my brothers with the Williams peep and I'm a freakin believer now, what an awesome peep. Next season I'll have one on it for sure.  I have some loose Pyrodex powder that I'll try this coming week when I head back to my parents in 113 to hunt whitetails. Thanks again for the tip, lookin forward to trying it out.
