any elk problems?
« on: December 28, 2013, 02:06:51 PM »
looking to fill tag before the 30Th, I do not know a soul in or near the 1010 area. If someone could get me a number... name... any lead it would be really helpful. I do plan on knocking on some doors but I would rather set-up something before I make the drive.
I'm a nice, clean-cut, helpful guy, willing to "help" around the ranch or farm to show appreciation.
Looking to Jerk alot of the meat and that makes a good gift too.  I have Multi tag, looking archery, sleep in truck, in and out quick and clean.
Thanks

When is the tag good for?

Did you already hunt the area?

Sorry, what I was getting at is; did you preview the area? Game in the area this time of year? Is it a private land hunt?

163 is not Walla Walla, it's Marengo(mostly all private land) and there's more to 1010 than just "Dayton". It's specific to private land in the Dayton 162 GMU.

Doesn't sound like he has been there yet....

Lagnar, for future reference, far better to learn about the area you have been selected to hunt, many months ahead of the closing date. Had to re-read and found you still have a month. Good luck.

Sorry I have not scouted there or been in the area to hunt or planned to hunt there.. I had a few health problems this season, hospitalized etc. I was trying to see if a farmer wanted one less cow elk nibbling at their haystack.

I know where the unit boundaries are, I just thought some people may not know where Dayton is…. most know the general area for Walla Walla.  Thats why I threw that city in..

I may have mis-spelled a word, My grammar was/is probably incorrect

I smell good and have a great attitude!

THANKS!

OTC General hunt, Iceman. Antlerless archery elk.
No special permits.

If it was me with that ticket I'd just go and drive around in it till I saw elk out in the fields then go knock on the door and ask for permission to shoot one. Most farmers, ranchers, dairymen would be happy to have one less elk on their property eating the graze and tearing down the fences. What do you have to lose by going there anyway? Its nice country and a nice getaway. cheap too.

There really isn't too many "fields". Spend A LOT of time glassing and you will find the elk.
