I recently purchased a 6.5 Grendel barrel from Black Hole weaponry (
http://blackholeweaponry.com). Given all the long lead times to get parts I was quite excited to see it arrive. I wanted to have it melonite coated so I sent it off to Texas to have that work done. When I got it back, I assembled the AR – 15 and checked the chamber with a go gauge. The bolt would not close.
I called up BHW and they send to send in the upper. When they looked at it they found it was not quite to spec so they tried to trim up the chamber. Well, with a melonite coating, the metal becomes so hard that there is no way the cutter can could make a mark on the chamber, let alone trim it.
They said that they would replace the barrel, but I was disappointed that I was out the 200+ dollars it cost me to have it coated.
Well, my new barrel arrived today. Guess what? Not only did they replaced my barrel with a brand new one, but they then took two spare bolts and recessed the bolt faces by 0.005 so that the go gauge would close on my original barrel.
This was way above and beyond in my mind. Not only did they stand behind their barrel with a replacement, but they sent me two modified bolts to make my melonite coated barrel work!
Very happy with the outcome of this!
