2012 Elk Harvest Statistic ????

Look at the elk tags purchased to elk hunters. How do they come up with those numbers? Doesn't seem correct t to me?

So, 67,950 hunters purchased 94,590 tags :dunno:

Sounds ridiculous. I have found multiple mistakes and miscalculations in game harvest reports before. Wonder how much someone actually reads them before they publish. Don't think anyone in the WDFW really cares.

I think it is when you submit your hunter report.  It asks you if you hunted for that species.  It has you in the system for buying the tag and designating it, so it requires a report filled out.

That could be. There are reports of "Total Hunter" for all weapons combined in the top 2 sections that show a discrepancy of about 7,000. See "Hunters-statewide total" and "Elk hunters- statewide total".  :dunno:

That's a lot of 10$ fines for not reporting? :chuckle:

Bingo. Should have read down the page I guess...

If you're going to make up numbers for a report, make sure they're accurate.

Lots of people buy elk tags every year, but don't actually hunt. They only buy the tag so they can apply for permits. If they don't draw, they don't hunt. That's why there's a difference in the numbers. I've done that lots of times. I never have gotten too excited about the general elk season. Too crowded for me.

So.. the numbers are accurate. Now some of you owe an apology to the WDFW.
