Ambedextrious Semi Auto Pistol Recomendations.
« on: January 09, 2014, 04:16:48 PM »
I once had a Ruger P89 in 9mm that i really liked and made the mistake of selling it.  :bash: I really liked it because the Mag eject, safety/de cocking lever were all Ambi. I mostly shoot south paw but can shoot either right or left handed (I'm equally uncoordinated!  ;) ) I missed a deal on here from a member here on a  p 85  same basic design.  What USED  weapon should i look for? I prefer 9mm I don't really want to spend $5-600 on a new gun. I prefer full size and 9mm What say you?

I would say a Glock but that is just my opinion. You can switch the mag release to accommodate lefties. I am sure other guns are great too though.

What ever you do, get a feel for it, make sure you are comfy with the pistol.

If I was to buy a gun off looks alone, I would never own a glock, but in my hands they are very comfortable. Every one is different so try before you buy no matter what it is.

Look for an FNX-9.  It comes with 3 17 Round magazines, and 4 backstraps, and is completely ambidextrous with a decocker, and single/double action, and for a full size pistol, is remarkably compact.  I like mine so much that when an FNP-40 came available, I sold my XD-40, and then sold my XD-45 and bought an FNX-45.  FNH just came out with the FNS series of striker-fired pistols, but being old-school, I like a hammer on my pistols.  :twocents:

I've been looking for one. like i said i missed one in the classifieds on here.  I've seen some on gun broker but by the time i figure in shipping and FFL transfer im within striking distance of new. If you know of one out there I'm all ears.

I am  a south paw too, and I love shooting 1911's. Most of mine, that didn't come whit one, I have outfitted with an ambi safety. I believe you can ambi the mag release, but I have gotten used to the stock ones. Glock is a good choice for and lefty too. All the others mentioned work as well. It's just a matter of choice.
