The reality is its almost allways cheaper to keep and maintan / repair a rig , but the reality is when do you want a new rig . after 6+ years and 60 k your value drops . I bought a new truck in 2001/2003/2005/2007/ 2009 I figure this one is gonna be around for awhile she has almost 80 k with a steering angle sensor and balljoints , brake job . not bad considering what she gets put through.

in my opinion in sted of trading in a 150k mileage truck and getting low balled at the dealership, it would be better sell it and make more $

I tend to buy rigs after they break the 100k mark, let some other sucker get the huge loss of buying them new.  I have three trucks right now, all are reliable and run great, the low milage one just turned 150k, middle one has 245k, high miler has 356k

:) As well as new trucks are made I think with reasonable manitenance and driving habits 200K is good for most all of them.

Besides KFhunter, nobody here has spent any big $$$ on new transmissions on your vehicles that have over 100,000 miles?

i was driving a 93 isuzu trooper with 205k and it ran alright, but i just couldnt trust it up in the mountains.  i need to drive back and forth across the state regularly so i bit the bullet and got a brand new yota couple years ago.  its worth the peace of mind that i can drive across the state and up into the mountains out of cell phone range and expect not to break down.  gave the trooper to a friend who needed a rig and its still running 2.5 years later.

I like to spread out mileage,  I have 12 vehicles 7 of them have over 100k miles.  They quit adding up miles very fast but staying up on maintenance gets to be a nightmare.

Wow, that's a fleet. How do you work out the insurance and you must love our States' 30.00 dollar tab fee's.

Insurance sucks at times but my agent is on speed dial,  I own them all so full coverage only on the higher value vehicles,  I put them on storage insurance which is like $6.00 a month,  a phone call to activate coverage when I drive them.
