lake osoyoos fishing?
« on: February 13, 2014, 10:41:36 AM »
I was wondering how you guys fish lake osoyoos? I have been going to the state park there for over twenty years for camping and to get cleaned up after a couple long day's of hunting but have only fished off the boat launch for a few minutes each time while everyone else was showering. catching a few perch and other pan fish and maybe the occasional small mouth.I have a boat and would like to go do some trolling and dedicate a couple days fishing it this year. Any pointers would be appreciated.  :)

A few guys fish kokes at times with minimal success generally and there's usually a season there depending on our sockeye run up the river, but nobody ever seems to do worth a dang and often times gets unfished.  Personally, I'd make my way to a surrounding lake if I were in that area to fish, hence no comments over a week. :twocents:

Well that's to bad.I was hopeful that it was a decent trout fishery or maybe some decent bass or walleye.I have never caught a walleye before or what i would call a big bass.  :dunno:

i think the small mouth is still really good same with bow fishing for carp, but trolling wise ive done it many times and never caught anything well one small mouth when i was going around a point and the water was really shallow.

It just seems weird to me that a lake that big in that area would be such poor fishing.Unless the Canadians fish it out. :chuckle:

If you're looking for large bass, try the Okanogan River. Palmer Lake might also be worth checking out. I hear good things about both. It is a bit farther, but Curlew Lake has Rainbows, Bass and Muskie.

I love curlew lake.I have stayed at fishermans cove a few times. But i have never focused on bass.I have property up on pontiac ridge and always go to oroville and rarely get over that way for whatever reason.

On a good day at Curlew, my  family of four can catch over a hundred bass in a few hours. Just a simple 1/8 oz jig head with a 4 in rubber worm(black seems best), single hook is easy to remove from fish and stays somewhat weed free. Most of the bass are on the small side, but the occasional 30"+ muskies makes up for the small bass. The strike king 1/8 oz spinner bait is also a easy fish release and is mostly weed free.
