For those looking to not break your pocket for a simple shelter, found this website and this decent looking shelter.

price is right but man, thats heavy! i think id just rock a blue tarp until i could scrounge $100 for a silnylon tarp at 1/3 the weight

That is kind of heavy for what it is. My Cuben Fiber tarp shelter is only 7.4 oz.

Have you guys ever checked out what Army Rangers do with the GI issue ponchos to make shelters? Pretty cool multi-purpose tools.

Tyvek is extremely light and totally waterproof. Add some 550 cord (para cord) and cut your poles the height you want.
With the weight savings you can have enough to include a floor.
