Catfish help!
« on: May 26, 2014, 12:43:23 PM »
I'm great at salmon/ steelhead and trout fishing. Want to get into cat fishing this year year and learn all I can. I have a 15' Wooldridge sled that I can run rivers in. Where should I try, type of bait, weight, setup, what type of water to look for,. Any info would be great! Thanks.

Palouse river at Lyons Ferry is a great place for 5 to 8lb cats.  Sometimes bigger if you are lucky.  The mouth of the Yak is good too near Bateman Island.

Good luck.

BTW, if you look at the fishing link on here you will notice that the HuntWA Catfish Rondevous is next weekend at Lyons Ferry.  Bunch of great guys and gals from this site will be there.  I can't make it this year.   ut, previous years have been a lot of fun to meet people from the site and go catfishing.

What depth of water do you target around batmans island? What pound test do you run and size of hooks? I might try to go to the polouse next weekend!
