I drew a Goose Prairie any bull tag any help?
« on: June 15, 2014, 09:06:46 AM »
I wish I would have found this forum years ago. Anyways, I drew a Goose Prairie any bull modern tag and I am looking for any suggestions on where to start. The last time I hunted the Nile was back in the days of any bull. As far as the Bumping I have camped over there a few times but have never hunted it. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I've never hunted the area but you've come to the right place. This site is a wealth of info so I'm hoping someone can help you out. You can also do a search on here for any related topics to 'Goose Prairie' and see some of the past post about it until you get some replies. Welcome to the site.

Welcome, StickMan.

You will find a lot of friendly folks here on this site, so be patient.  Like anything else in life, however, people are reluctant to just give up treasured information.  In addition to Eli's advice, it might help if you introduced yourself (hunting how long, which weapon, your areas of knowledge, etc.).  Offering information to others will go a long way in receiving some yourself.  Good luck.

Congrats on the tag and welcome to the site. My buddy had the tag about ten years ago and I went over to scout with him. A local guy showed us the area and said lots of bulls with a few wall hangers. Send me a pm and I can tell you more.

Thank you for welcoming me to the forum.  :) I have been hunting Washington since I was 18 (I'm 45 now) I have always hunted modern seasons and I am very familiar with the White River unit and the Selkirk unit as I drew a moose tag there in 2003 and I found some great places during my hunt. I completely understand people not wanting to give up there favorite spots and I want everybody to know that a monster bull is not really my priority I mean we all go hunting for him but for me I am happy with a decent bull and a full freezer. By the time my season opens I know that these elk will already have been chased by muzzle loaders and archers as well as having interaction with the deer hunters.I hope to fill my tag quickly which would allow me more time to help my 15 year old fill his Okanogan any Whitetail tag. My reason for posting was for help with a starting point and to hopefully make some friends along the way.

We hunted behind whistling jacks across the river. Lots of property up there. Definitely be up there during the rut to scout when there bugling. Lots of bulls in there when we drew in 2000. I got a 7x8 and cousin got a 6pt. Can't help ya on bumping.

Hunted Bumping archery season in 2011 great hunt. Don't know about rifle, have thought about putting in for the bull tag . Got this guy on the wall. Some good bulls in the unit.
SHUT UP & BENCH ! ! ! Bench BIG or go Home.
