Advice on Hogg-it sight
« on: June 30, 2014, 04:37:20 PM »

Here's my dilemma...I can't use the bottom 2 pins.  My top pin is sighted at 20 yards and goes up by 10 yard increments.  20-80 yards, respectively.  I shoot a Hoyt carbon Spyder 30 with a 28" draw.  The problem is that with the way I feel it's supposed to be set up (with the top screw in the top hole in the bracket), I can't use the bottom 2 pins.  Now, if I set the sight lower on the vertical adjustment bracket (as shown), I'm guessing that I can probably be able to use the bottom two pins.  It just seems like it's not supposed to be that way, especially since the bolts are pretty close together.  Has anyone ran into this problem, and will my fletching contact the sight if I set it up like that?  I'm afraid to shoot it prior to getting some advice.

I don't know why, but I've ran into this problem and seen it often with spot hoggs on Hoyts.  Luckily the hogg it I have is centered perfect on my carbon element. My boss and sdp were just like yours. Personally, I'd say if you have both screws secure, you're good to go. Doesn't seem right, but unfortunately it seems like it is what it is. Adjusting your peep would be the only thing else I could see. Someone will chime in with a better answer.

Seems goofy to me.  I've owned a few hoyts and have shot spot hoggs on all of them never had that problem.

Yeah, that's what I thought.  The peep seems fine.  5.25" up from the d-loop I believe.  I shot it last night at close range and as far as I can tell, I don't have fletching contact, but I know it's pretty darn close!  I emailed Spott Hogg, so I hope I can get a response.

Run it dropped like that, it's fine as far as security. It's a Spot Hogg. Otherwise bump your peep up a hair

I'll try moving the peep up a bit, and see if that helps.  Thanks all!

5.25 seems very low on the peep. Mine is 6.5 I think. Moving the peep up will most likely lower your anchor.
