Yes there is a lot of DNR land more than half the Island is. Here is a few pic's of my 2nd deer muzzle hunt. and on the Boat? :bdid: It can get nasty very fast and the tides are fast moving. Elec. motors no but gas is a must.  You will kill your self or the coast guard will be looking for you. You might be able to jump islands if you have a gas motor on a nice day.
 I remember. Yeah it is getting harder to find land to hunt. But we still have a some spots of land hunt.  It is harder to find the deer and the bucks are harder to come by. But that's ok I only hunt the lands for my 2nd deer tag and I leave the bucks for my buddy's that hunt modern season. Hey it good to talk to you again. Are you ever going to hunt the islands again? Let me now if you what to hunt Lopez or if you have a boat. You should go to Cypress island Great place to hunt but it is boat access only. My first hunt there I bagged a nice 3x3 Muzzleloader hunt. All I do is muzzle for deer now. Talk to you late and great looking big bucks for a island deer.

Bearhunter  is there alot of open land on cypress?  i have a small boat i just got i use for duck hunting and all it has is a trolling motor

Hey Bear - do you mostly hunt the DNR on Lopez Hill or do you have private access?  I am an archer and will be there the end of August through Labor Day (opening day for deer) and would love to put some meat on the table!

Nice thread guys.  A good read with great pics.

If I lived closer, I'd be hunting there too.  My extended family and I all own 30some acres on Guemes that I've contemplated hunting for several years.  It looks like we may sell it soon, so it's time to s**t or get off the pot.
