How many of you guys go elsewhere also?  Where are you heading?  I am heading to Idaho on the 14 for Archery Elk, will be gone for 17 days should be a fun hunt.

I will be spending a week and a half leading up to Thanksgiving in Montana trying to fill everything possible in the Big Game Combo.

I hunt Idaho, Washington and Montana every year.  In the next 365 days I'll hunt Montana, Idaho, Washington, Alaska and Alberta.

I'm headed to AZ next week to tag along on an archery elk hunt.  Looks like I'm hunting BC moose in October.  Then I'll hunt archery coues whitetails in January in AZ.

Heading to NM next week to the Gila for elk.  Might be in Idaho for Octobe or November deer.  Vote is still outon that one.

You bugger....how did you scrape up a BC moose hunt.

...shear, dumb luck.  My cousin from AZ (the guy I hunted with in NM 16A) gave me the call last week.  His older brother from Alabama (also my cousin) and his business partner had booked (and paid for) a trip last year, but an emergency has come up with the business and they can't go.  Soooo, older brother calls up younger brother and says 'Happy Birthday', you're going moose hunting in BC...oh, and you need to find a friend to go.  And that's where I come in!!!  Will have to cut back on a few other hunts to make time, but certainly worth it.  Still kind of in shock that we're going.   

I believe the outfitter is called Sugar Valley Outfitters.  Anybody know them?

Although having a child is a positive thing, you really need work on your timing. That child will have a birthday in mid-Nov for the rest of your life. The best MT hunting is mid to late Nov. You should just hand your guns over to me now.

I am heading to Alaska on the 13th to help out on a moose hunt, and I get to try for wolves. come back for 5 days and head to Idaho for my moose hunt.

A year ago RIGHT NOW, I was letting an arrow fly on my Alaska moose.   Then the work REALLY began..  I can't believe that was a year ago already.   Mine, my thoughts are there today.  I'm living the whol;e day over again.  Alot of blood sweat and tears were shed in the next 48 hours.

Anyone heard from Boneaddict yet on his NM hunt?  I'm dying to hear how it went.  He's got one killer tag.  Just checked the weather though, and looks like it's still pretty hot down there.  The nearest town had a high of 84 today, with a low around 50.  But if the bulls are going off, he should have a chance at a real toad. 

I just got back from five days in AZ tagging along on my cousin's unit 8 bull hunt.  We were at 7,000 feet, but still pretty hot there as well.  Would hear bugles each morning for the first hour or so, but they'd quickly find their beds and shut down.  We got within 80 yards or so of a few bulls in the 300-340 range, but no shots.  Highlights for me included exchanging bugles at about 150 yards with an old 7x7 that sounded like an elephant.  He was with about 30 cows...unfortunately the lead cow winded or saw us at about 100 yards.  Also called in a young cow to six yards, where she stopped broadside and tried to figure out why we didn't look like elk.  She got separated from her herd and thought I was mama.  My cousin's got til Sunday, so hopefully things are heating up. 

Heard from another board regular today who's in Colorado.  I'll let him post his story, but nothing on the ground yet.  On the plus side, sounds like the bulls are going nuts. 

One other hunt to report on...a couple buddies of mine spent the last week on a drop camp trip in the Pasayten.  Apparently they got snowed on three times...and no bucks.

Just don't shoot one on the first day because then you have to cut your trip short and your wife will expect you back at work.

I'm driving up on Sunday, hunt starts on Monday.  Absolutely stoked. 

I've never hunted in Canada...for those that have been up there, anything special I need to know about taking a bow (and hopefully a moose) across the border?

i went down to oregon and rookie choked on a big lead cow.

You'll need paperwork to get the moose across I believe.  I filled it out when I crossed from Alaska to Canada, then handed it in when I came back in the US.  As for the bow, I don't know...gun is a bit of a pain in the ass.  Make sure you have the serial number.  It will cost you about $100 for a gun.
