Help on arrows
« on: September 20, 2014, 10:17:24 PM »
Hey guys.  I'm looking into getting started into archery and the gear I need to purchase just seems to keep piling up.

Short question:  I went to the new Cabelas in Tualitin today and bought a box (12) of Cabelas Stalker Extreme carbon arrows (5575).  I excitedly open them up at home and find that I can't screw my field points or broadheads into the arrow shaft because it's missing a screw in piece that my other arrows do have.

Is this an extra piece that I need to purchase?  It looks like a metal ring when completed with broadhead and shaft.  If so, it looks like a simple add on.

This archery stuff is quite equipment intensive!

Actually, I may have answered my own question.

It seems the piece in question is called an "insert."

Next question, do you simply glue those into the hollow arrow shaft with super glue?

You need to know the length of arrow you need.  Normally and inch or so longer than your draw length.  Arrows need to be cut and yes super glue will work.
