Welcome to the site. Contact George Brady in Pateros for coyote pelt info. He's the man! 509-923-2326.
If you contact this person don't be surprised if you don't ever get paid for your pelts. Still waiting payment for pelts dropped off in 2012 and 2013. Shot at 10 in the morning dropped off at 5 at night and told they had already started top turn green in temps below freezing. Don't think so..
Might of found a different buyer closer to home will know more later this fall.
If George didn't pay you for them they were no doubt worthless. Coyote, especially gut shot ones can spoil over night if not taken care of properly. Lay them out where they get good air circulation and never pile them against one another.
Skinning them is the best. They skin pretty easy if you do it when still warm. In some kinds of weather it is the only sure way to prevent spoilage.
Also learn how to tell a good one from a rubbed coyote. Furbuyers get a lot of coyotes from varmint hunters that were rubbed to the point of worthlessness. Waste of time packing them out.
If you know a good coyote from junk you won't go away upset as you will always be bringing in saleable items.
