rocks work well as long as they are softball size ... it's not your fault if a rock is falling from the sky and just happens to land on a grouse ! :chuckle:

I only ask becuase I cant see anything against it in the requirements for the handgun used, It just says handgun

Yes it is legal.  Forest grouse may be killed with a handgun. Handgun restrictions (barrel length and caliber) apply only to big game, and cougar.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

I know a guy who didn't want to disrupt his elk hunt in Idaho a few years ago and killed his limit of grouse with a stick!  He didn't even have to hit the grouse, just hitting the branch they were sitting on made them fall to the ground and flop around like they just got shot.  They just sat in the tree and watched each one fall, not a smart bird at all but darn good eating. In Canada on a moose hunt, the guide had us hunt grouse with a sling shot and pieces of lead.  It was a blast.

Makes real sense to be able to fire off a .300 Win Mag at a grouse on a limb or sitting beside a road. Those sling-shots are really a hazard in the woods. Goes along with shooting rifles in the dark in flat country while hunting the Wiley Coyote.
